Ladram
Bay Holiday Centre enjoys its own private beach which is less than a minutes walk from most
areas on the site. This secluded pebble beach is reached down a
gently slope which has been fully concreted allowing launching of
small boats (xx by arrangement?).
The beach itself is situated in a small
cove surrounded by magnificent countryside and red sandstone cliffs.
During the day the beach provides both areas of sun and shade
allowing shelter to be found for children at the hottest points in
the day.
Within the bay are three fine examples
of geographical 'stacks' which have resulted as the sea has
selectively eaten away at the surrounding cliffs. It is these 'Three
Rocks' that give their name to the 'Three Rocks Inn' at Ladram Bay. An example of one of these 'Stacks' can bee seen in the
bottom left hand corner of the picture above.
The beach has it's own shop selling all
the beach essentials including cold drinks and ice-cream. Small
motor boats are also available for hire from the beach for fishing
or simply cruising around the bay on a summers day. At low tide rock
pools become visible providing many hours of fun for children, just
remember to take your net and a bucket with you.
A
local fisherman operates from the beach bringing ashore locally
caught fish and shellfish, which usually provides plenty for the
children to marvel at. The locally crab and lobster is available
cooked directly from the fisherman on the slipway subject to
catches; just look out for the chalk board with details of the
latest catch.
Why not treat yourself to a freshly
cooked crab for tea, you can't get fresher than this.
Facilities on
the beach include:
Boat Hire
Beach Shop,
stocking: Ice Creams, Drinks, Fishing Next etc...
