A journey to Morwellham Quay will take you back in
time to around 1860. Once the the centre of the great copper mining boom the
riverside port and village of Morwellham was lost and forgotten until it was
restored back to it's original splendour. The riverside tramway takes you deep
into the George & Charlotte copper mine where you will discover the life of a
Cornish miner.
On your visit to Morwellham why not take the
opportunity to dress in fabulous Victorian costumes and experience Victorian
life first hand. Wander around the streets and meet local characters who
played their part in what was once the greatest copper port in Queen
Victoria's Empire.
There are activities and demonstrations throughout
the day both inside and out and for young and old alike. Learn how to make
rope, join a Victorian school class, find out how to smelt copper and much
more...
Morwellham Quay is approximately one and three
quarter hours drive from Ladram Bay, but is an educational day out for the
whole family.
